Therapy and How does it fit in the Divorce Process?

Therapy in the Divorce Process

Separation and Divorce can be a long process and depending on the complexities of your situation, very emotional. Being level headed is essential. Ask yourself, where are you emotionally? Have you thought this whole process through? Would it be helpful to speak to someone who wouldn’t judge you and who could help you work through your feelings and emotions? Do you need professional advice on how to handle the emotions of your children, family members or when dealing with your partner? It’s common to make the wrong decisions when emotions are running high. Avoiding wrong decisions and getting yourself to a place where rational decisions can be made should be the priority.

A licensed therapist might be a great way to help you work through the process of separation and divorce. You may choose to work individually with a therapist or perhaps you would benefit from group therapy sessions. Group therapy can help not only with emotional support and advice but the people in the group would be able to share similar experiences with you so you realize that others have been in your shoes and have similar concerns.

Support Group

No matter what road you choose this is a difficult time; get to a healthy state of mind before making major decisions, find emotional support and stay grounded!
